Founder of Professional Insurance Associates, Sterling L. Hammack, Jr. passed away in January, 2010 at Stanford Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. He was born in San Francisco in 1936 and grew up in San Bruno, CA. Sterling was an outstanding collegiate athlete and armed services veteran. He was a Rotarian, and the founding president of ARM in California and voted Insurance Agent of the Year in 1979 by the California Insurance Agents Association. He loved Track & Field and was the premier High Jump official in California from 1967 -1985 and was proud to have officiated a world record. In the 1980s he coached Little League in San Carlos to a championship and also coached Babe Ruth baseball and soccer.
He was an extensive world traveler, having visited over 100 countries and safaried in Africa 16 times. Because of his travels, he became very interested in conservation and protection of endangered species. The Sterling L. Hammack Foundation was established in his name to assist in the protection of those species and provide additional resources for the people living in less fortunate parts of the World.
