Joined San Francisco Police Department in January 1978 and worked as a police officer until January 1981. Lou was the President of the 130th recruit class of the SFPD. He received a Bronze Medal of Valor for bravery capturing a convicted murderer and a Board of Supervisors commendation for arresting a serial rapist. In addition, Lou received over 40 Captains commendations for outstanding police work, all in a 3 year career. Prior to leaving the department Lou was appointed as the youngest Field Training Officer in the history of the SFPD.
January 1981: began insurance career with a large family owned insurance agency in San Mateo, specializing in commercial and agribusiness insurance.
1987-1993 began career with Nationwide Insurance, specializing in commercial insurance production. Lou and his three partners had the largest premium volume office of any Nationwide Insurance office in the USA.
1993-Present – Lou joined Professional Insurance Associates, where he has produced and currently services hundreds of commercial customers from virtually all industries. Lou brings extensive finance and risk management expertise to his many clients.
Married to Kristy Colzani with 3 children.

Hobbies include flying, golf, 1960’s music and muscle cars, politics, gourmet cooking, fine wine and his beloved SF Giants but most importantly spending quality time with family.
